Whatever Happened To Your Word? (Acapella)
HEKTOR THILLET (coffeeeurope)
Been a while, amigos! Hope everyone is doing better than better. Here sharing a new poem with you all. This was a morning muse…, hence the roosters in the background - jaja! Hope you enjoy.
Whatever Happened To Your Word?
Written & Performed By Hektor Thillet
Whatever happened to your word?
Your promise, your honor, your worth
Gone—like yesterday?
New—like today?
Never—like always?
Why did you give it to me?
I still have it.
Don’t you need it?
And if I have it
How is it you speak?
I heard you gave your word again
But you can’t,
Is not possible—
I have it-I can prove it-I’ll give you my word
It used to be yours.
Your word can’t help.
Your word can’t call back
Your word can’t show—
Your word is lost-inside my pocket.
I can help you—
I can call you
If you need a word
I’ll even show
But how will I ever know when to do so?
You don’t have your word.
When you speak-you don’t speak at all—
You open wide—like outer space
Boundless
But don’t seem to recall
Is stars and planets
That have your word.
Your word has become a universal void—
A black hole that swallows
Winds of hope nearing
The destruction to us all.
Getting it back now won’t save us
You can have my word.
