Alchemist Apprentice
Snowflake
A very special thank you to Darkroom for making such quality music and sharing amazing stems that made creating this track flow with ease. So lucky to have drawn you!
I’m also very grateful to John Jones for playing bass and an acoustic guitar solo, helping with my vocal comp (my hands have been out of commission) and also giving me mix notes (his ears are next level….)
I was raised in a strict religion that taught — all women bear the weight of Eve’s original sin. Through repeated reenactment, we learned to carry her shame as our own and were forced to obey our husbands as punishment.
It has taken years of deconstructing and healing to realize that shame created my capacity from which my strength is derived.
The compost in our lives creates the flowers.
Thanks for listening! And again, thank you Darkroom!

What is your secret name?
My named secret is shame
It’s been choking my roots
Planting fear in my boots
Hands shaking, they pass me the game
Heavy and awkward, the weight
Mud and blood stain the slate
Is this brokenness my karma or my fate?
He slices up my guilt and serves it on a silver plate
Hey but I am an alchemist
I’m a sacred activist
I’m a tender feminist
But I’m just an apprentice
Release the stories of shame
Decrease imaginary pain
Real suffering makes capacity
With entropy expanding me
My soul is a black hole
Filling with gamma rays
And divine grace
I am an alchemist
I’m a sacred activist
I’m a tender feminist
But I’m just an apprentice
A student of life
I’m just an apprentice
A student of life
I’m just an apprentice
A student of life
I’m just an apprentice
