I was so pleased when I drew Copperhead this secret mixter. I’ve worked with Greg before and he has an amazing and varied back catalog.
The more and more I listened through the harder it got, until I found something gathering dust that I started in 2012.

The song is called Face in the Crowd.
I’d completely forgotten about this one.

Against Copperhead’s great backing, Sassygal wrote the vocal melody and then I wrote the lyrics against it, trying to get into a teenagers head. (ha!)
We then convinced Maddy (my step daughter then aged 14) to go all Miley Cyrus on it. She did this vocal in one take against Sassy’s guide track.
I’m still blown away by her tone and scared shitless that she now sounds even better now she’s 18.

Anyway, 14 year old lead singer, ballad at 132BPM, ageing songwriter dad trying to write words for a teenage girl. Finishing the project in a different DAW four years on. What could possibly go wrong???
