Blackness not. (ft. Lisa de Benedictis & airtone)
robwalkerpoet
Hearing the beautiful voice of Lisa de Benedictis on Sleep lightly and airtone’s snooze version of it prompted me to dig up an unpublished poem I wrote years ago and intersperse it with their work. I really dig the intimacy of Lisa’s voice and Martin’s deep bass. I hope that Lisa and Martin approve.
BLACKNESS NOT
sleep.
sleep flees like a rabbit, disturbed. lids open
or closed reveal the same blackness
or rather Space.
i’ve passed indeterminate waking hours
which should be sleep
staring at this.
random motes of dust.
points of light
on a mattblack
canvas
coalesce
grow depth
swirl
into
three dimensions.
galaxies,
supernovas
of nothingness
as manic as
Starry Night
Paranoid as
The Scream
but blackness
it is
not
