The drive to work (ft. Jurgen Herrmann)
robwalkerpoet
Possibly the shortest thing I’ve ever done…
When I was teaching I had the most amazing drive to work. No traffic lights - a twenty minute winding route across a ridge of the Mt Lofty Ranges, then skirting the ancient Onkaparinga Valley down into the southern suburbs of Adelaide. I wrote this poem in my final year at that school.
The music is the bass clarinet of Jurgen Herrmann. I think I used it years ago in H2O? Anyway, it still haunts me so I used it again…
The poem was published last year in a chapbook Policies & Procedures (Garron Press)
