Endless Summer

I was grabbed by the simplicity and honesty of Clarence Simpson’s guitar work on his piece simply titled C minor and decided to match it with an equally personal and honest stream of consciousness about my own Australian summers of childhood. I started to add bass and overdub more guitar but eventually stripped it back to allow Clarence’s beautiful clean arpeggio to speak for itself, adding only a few beach fx and a background chorus. It was my first Secret Mixter. I enjoyed the randomness of the project. Due to a misunderstanding about the deadline I did it in 24 hours – but this just focussed my thinking and I’m pleased with the result. Thanks for the opportunity to discover someone else’s creativity and confirm once again the synergy which is the essence of ccMixter!
