Wellerman Comes (Tragedy and Hope of the Peqoud)

Inspired by the “Tik Tok Wellerman” phenomenon of 2021, I’m working with my singer friend on our interpretation of the ballad. While recording the vocal draft (so that my singer collaborator knows how to sing it), I decided to try my voice at it just for fun.
She wanted this in the key of Cm, which is quite high a key for me to sing. I tried my best. Thankfully there’s FlexTuning in Logic Pro X!
I’ve heard people call this a Sea Shanty. To my ears I hear a sad ballad too. And the words reminded me of the novel, Moby Dick —hence, “the Peqoud”.
The last time I made a vocal upload to ccM was some years ago. This was fun. Hope someone finds this useful. Also, I’m surprised no one has uploaded their Wellerman renditions to ccM (as of this upload anyway).
