In 1969 a year before I went to live in London I visited a friend who lived there. We had heard that they were looking for cleaners in Abbey Road studios so we went dressed in the best gear the 60’s could offer and wearing our tinted JL glasses. We believed we could not fail. Unfortunately they were looking for something a little more conventional in the cleaning department and after waiting outside for an hour we were told the jobs had been given to someone else. It was only some years later that I learnt that during this time the Beatles were there recording the Abbey Road album.

Earlier this year after 40 years had passed I found myself on the pavement outside again and on impulse went to the front door and rang the bell. I informed the lady that answered I had come for the cleaners job. She told me to wait and after a few minutes a young man came out and said that there must be some mistake as they did not need anyone.

Well I thought it was worth another shot!!
