Robot Summer
gurdonark
I like Summer. I like robots. I’ve never been quite sure how they go together—until now.
For this remix, I created an elaborate mental plan for how I would create this song, aiming for an experimental ambient work with a beat-less, drone-based experiment in offbeat tones.
Then I loaded the samples into the synths, and everything changed.
Soon my beach blanket was no longer spread on a foggy day overlooking the North Sea. The samples were not at home drinking strawberry lemonades at the Santa Monica Pier, either. My beach blanket looked a bit like graphite sheeting spread out on an ocean of nano-bots, and the mood became a bit hydraulic.
My thanks to Copperhead, who has posted some really great material here, to which I have not done justice in my mechanical approach.
