Today I walked from my home across town to the public library. I carried with me my Swift Audubon binoculars. I saw three kestrel.
Kestrel are small, lovely birds of prey. One kestrel descended from telephone pole to ground with a fluttery, graceful, abandoned motion—perhaps causing an untimely end for a bug or rodent, but also giving birth to this song.
