A Different Approach

It is not generally known that Rap music started in Ireland in the early 1930’s. It was first heard on the farm of Shamus O’Rouke at harvest time when he and the various farm workers would be toiling to bring the crops in on time. Shamus’ unique vocals could be heard across the fields as he belted out some of his favourite lines to traditional tunes that had been handed down through the generations. Sadly due to the lack of recording equipment there are no examples of his wonderful rapping but stories are still told in the local pubs of Shamus’ great vocal work.
