The Penguin Dance In Four Movements
Radioontheshelf
It is thought that dancing was a way for our prehistoric ancestors to bond and communicate, particularly during tough times. As a result, scientists believe that early humans who were coordinated and rhythmic could have had an evolutionary advantage.
My dancing skills only came alive in the early 1970’s when all you had to do was stand and stare at the floor and wave your arms and legs wildly like some demented fool. We all did it. We all took part whilst unbeknownst to us we were merely reacting to our genes whilst wearing our flared jeans.
Scientists who study these sort of things believe penguins dance for similar reasons. This may be true with only their short legs stopping them becoming true masters of the craft and thoroughly advantaged.
This piece with the wonderful vocals of Mr David Robinson is not really one to dance too being more of an elegy to all the “wallflowers” who have sat in the shadows waiting to be asked to dance.
I have repitched and manipulated the vocal so take a listen to the original and the other wonderful uploads David has given us.
