Panu’s words cover a whole spectrum of humanities uncertainty. The world has moved on since I was a young man and instead of our lives becoming more satisfying and relaxed we find ourselves chasing dreams that are held together by fragile economic strategies and our lust for posessions funded by borrowings. We never seem to learn that this global economy we now find ourselves a part of is not our salvation but ultimately our downfall. Many years ago we spoke of shorter working weeks , better health care and schools and our lives enriched by the achiements we have made. But most of these achievements are purely materialistic and the contentment we search for and our hopes for creating a better world for everyone remain dreams.
