Red Queen

I wrote a simple tune around CiggiBurns’s Red Queen. A great song and performance by Ciggi.
Taking my cue from the song it has two parts, a simple four note rhythm that repeats for sixteen bars with little change representing the monotony of her life, then a 1/8 note chorus that represents running on the spot. The rapidly changing chords and root notes create movement and drive the song along. Its all 1/8 beats with no swing to represent the running and tedium.
I often start composing with piano, in this tune I left the original in which then suggested all conventional instruments. Fairly minimal instruments, piano, drums, guitar, pedal bass and string section with a focus on how its played.
I included another version with no drums or bass.
