Frankenstein lives in all of us
the wretched one that has no peace
can know no peace
the roil of primordial darkness
the siren song of anger and pride
the hubris of the fallen is nothing
in the pale light of humanity’s ego.

We stalk ourselves in the night
summoning the demons that taunt our dreams
a desecrated circle of primal nature
just beneath the benign surface
of a civilized smile.
